Josh Swyers Part/Interview

Never heard of him? Good. That makes this ripping, creative, fun-to-watch part all the better. As seen in Venue Skateboard's "Old Dominion" video. Nice work, Josh.

Interview

How was filming for the Venue Video?

It was awesome.  It’s amazing still going on trips with some of my best friends that I grew up with. We filmed for a year and a half and went on a trip every Sunday.

So that’s how Bust Crew Sundays came about?
Yeah, when we started filming for the video everyone was off work on Sundays, so naturally we all started going on skate trips on that day. It turned into a day that we all looked forward to every week. Kind of like a mini vacation from life with all of our friends. I remember bombing hills and playing skate more than filming tricks, for sure. The traffic was also normally light and schools were closed.

Have you been working on any new music lately?
I recorded the songs for the menus in Old Dominion. I also came out with a little album recently called Muffled Sound. All of my music is at www.swyers.bandcamp.com Hopefully I’ll have a new album coming out soon.

Have you started filming for anything new?
My friends and I are going on a road trip from Virginia to LA in a week. It’s like a Bust Crew Sunday that never ends. I can’t wait! Will Rosenstock is making a short video of the trip out there. I am also starting to film a part for my friend Kevin O’Dell’s video.

Sponsors? Thanks?
I can’t thank these guys enough: Mike Sinclair, Tyler Culbertson and everyone at Tum Yeto. Everyone there is killing it! Also, Matt Bennett for making my favorite shoe I have ever skated. Kim and Maury at Venue Skateboards are like parents to me and everyone else in Richmond. We are so lucky to have a shop so legit and run by people who skate. And my family and friends, I am very grateful for all of you.
