    Consent Is Rad
    An international project launched by Dr. Indigo Willing, Consent is Rad focuses on educating skate scenes around the world about the importance of consent—especially in intimate settings. Its "No Naming, No Shaming, No Blaming" policy keeps the focus on their one simple message and protects the privacy of survivors and victims. In 2021 the Break the Cycle PSA was included in the mag.The group with co-founders We Skate QLD and Pushing Boards shares information about how to talk about consent and works with people in areas of gender inclusion and sexual violence prevention.     Chances are you've heard of the American Civil Liberties Union, and for good reason. The ACLU has been fighting within the legal system to protect the individual rights of citizens on issues like women’s rights, racial justice, privacy and surveillance for over 100 years. Check their site to know your rights when you get jammed up by the cops at your favorite spot. 
  • Equal Justice Initiative

    Equal Justice Initiative
    The Equal Justice Initiative provides legal assistance, makes reports and produces short films to address and fight against racial injustice and mass incarceration in America. The EJI has helped over 120 wrongly-convicted or illegally-sentenced people in Alabama and has won cases in the Supreme Court banning life without parole for kids.     National Suicide Prevention Hotline
    We’re not always open about our emotions. But if you or someone in your scene is struggling, the National Suicide Prevention Hotline is available 24/7 with its network of local centers all across the country. Check out their site to learn about suicide prevention and check in with yourself and your homies to help make sure we don’t lose more people we know and love. 
  • The Crisis Text Line

    The Crisis Text Line
    Some would rather text than call, and for those, the Crisis Text Line is available 24/7, not just for suicide emergencies but for any number of painful, heated moments. Seventy-five-percent of the the texters that use the service are under the age of 25, which also overlaps with the largest demographic of skaters. It’s free, it’s anonymous and it helps save lives.   • Drug and Alcohol Helpline

    Drug and Alcohol Helpline
    Skaters have seen their fair share of the downsides from drug and alcohol abuse and addiction. The Substance Abuse and Mental Services Administration Helpline is a 24/7 resource that connects people suffering from mental or substance-use disorders to local treatment services and support groups. You don’t need insurance and your info is always confidential.

    For over 50 years, the people at CLASP have been working in Washington to make sure our leaders are hearing the people’s voice as opposed to special interests. Their legal work includes crafting government policy proposals to reduce poverty and improve racial equity in America.     You might’ve seen the video on Louie Lopez’s story of father and son reuniting after being separated at the border. Such scenes are both touching and heartbreaking. CHIRLA helps make moments like that happen and works to prevent the separations from happening in the first place. Whether it’s helping people renew their DACA applications, helping shape immigration laws or providing high-quality legal representation, the people at CHIRLA are committed to making a more humane country for immigrants.
  • National Lawyers Guild SF Chapter

    National Lawyers Guild SF Chapter
    The SF/Bay Area chapter of the National Lawyers Guild has been fighting for the underdog in our own backyard for over 50 years. They connect their network of lawyers, law students and legal workers directly with organizers working to empower marginalized communities. They also have a bail fund program and an FBI help hotline to assist people targeted by the State or contacted by the Bureau. If you want to get involved in Bay Area activism, check in with their Know Your Rights training to learn more about the legal risk and what to do if you engage with cops.
